Animals weren't the only ones monkeying around

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CNN/KCRA) - The animals weren't the only ones monkeying around at the Sacramento Zoo Thursday.

The park became a bit chaotic as police chased a group of suspected car thieves through the zoo. Authorities managed to corral several visitors into one area of the park as authorities searched for the crew. K-9 officers caught up with the suspects in one of the animal exhibits.

One witness says he didn't know what to think when he saw the suspects take off in the park.

"Two dudes are running by I'm like, 'Why are people running in the zoo?' And the next thing you know you hear police sirens and the monkeys, I think, 'Dude ran into where the monkeys are at' and lucky cops got him because dude was about to get mobbed by some monkeys, I don't know," said the witness.

A police dog accidentally bit a zoo worker who was standing near one of the suspects. That suspect also got nipped by the four-legged officer.

The trio was eventually carted off to jail.
