3-year-old saves dad's life

How did she know where to go?

MANTECA, Calif. (CNN/KOVR) - A 3-year-old California girl is being hailed as a hero for noticing something was very wrong with her dad.

"Took a mixture of medication I wasn't supposed to at the time... and I guess I collapsed," recalled Frank Tafoya.

When her dad confused some medication, little Alesaundra Tafoya took action, heading out of the house on her own to get help. She walked nearly two blocks to Fire Station 243.

"I've been here over 20 year its the first time I've had a 3-year-old walk up to the fire station," said Capt. Robert Villalovoz with the Manteca Fire Dept.

The captain says Alesaundra was focused, and said her daddy was frozen and wouldn't wake up.

"She walked us down to her house and there her dad was sitting in the living room needing medical care," said Capt. Villalovoz.

Doctors say without that care, Frank probably would have died.

So just how did she know where to go? The family says they pass Fire Station 243 daily, pointing out that it is a safe place and firefighters are her friends.

"She's been listening, what we've been teaching her she's been listening and that's good," said her dad.
