Mardi Gras revelers show their attire

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - For those who have never attended Fat Tuesday, it's an all day event. That means you have to pay special attention to what you wear. Not to mention, it was cold! So what is the perfect Mardi Gras outfit?

There are many things to consider when picking out an outfit, especially for Mardi Gras. So what are the essentials? One hard-working lady says it's all about your feet.

"When I found out I was covering Mardi Gras, I thought about if I wanted to look cute, or be comfortable. I decided comfortable, so I chose tennis shoes," said FOX10 News reporter April Douglas.

Douglas had a good point. Another parade attendee said she was worried about being warm, so she piled on the layers. She said the parades would have been no fun if she was freezing.

Mike Smith said it's important to be decorated with beads.

"It puts you in the spirit," said Smith.

Smith said it isn't Mardi Gras without them.
