MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - King Felix III arrived in downtown Mobile just before noon Monday, to preside over the final hours of Mardi Gras 2010. A large crowd gathered at Cooper Riverside Park to welcome the king.

John Shell is waiting on royalty to arrive; King Felix III. The king's real name is Peter Cayce Sherman, Jr.

Four-year-old Shell is one of dozens of people who crowded Cooper Riverside Park as the king's boat was docked.

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones presented the key to the city to King Felix.

"Long live Felix, long live the king," said Mayor Jones.

So, for the final hours of Mardi Gras, King Felix will have reign over the Port City.

His humble subjects crowded the streets for a parade in his honor.

The 25-year-old is taking it all in strides.

"Really soaking it all in. Couldn't be happier getting to represent my city," said Sherman.

Sherman comes from a long line of Mardi Gras royalty. Sherman said being crowned king is a childhood dream come true.

"Something you dream about doing and actually get to do is great," said Sherman.

Who knows, little John could one day be royalty himself.

"Happy Mardi Gras!" said Shell.
