PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - The City of Prichard's annual Mardi Gras Parade hit the streets around one p.m. Monday. Revelers from Prichard were joined by many others from areas, including Mobile, Mt. Vernon, and Citronelle.
City leaders said the parade is one of the city's biggest revenue producers. That's welcome news for the city that is struggling during the tough economy.
City Council member Napoleon Bracey said the parade has a significant impact on businesses and tax revenue, because many people from outside the city are brought in for the parade.
Marching bands from both Vigor and Blount High Schools were part of the parade.
