FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) - The Fairhope Kids' parade finally rolled Monday. It was postponed on Friday becausr of last week's snowy weather.
However, cold weather did not call off Monday's parade.
Even though the kids are not part of organized krewe, they describe it as the "krewe of kids' fun".
"Cause there is a bunch of stuff you can catch, like stuffed animals, beads, moonpies, and all kinds of stuff," said student Roger Huckle.
Parents say this event is something kids look forward to every year. When the snow postponed Friday's parade, parents knew it had to be rescheduled.
Mary Hempfleng has a daughter at Fairhope K-1 Center.
"She has two older siblings that have done it in the past, so she is kind of looking forward to it," said Hempfleng.
During the kids' Mardi Gras parades, there aren't any huge floats, just little wagons. Fairhope Middle School band was also in the parade.
Even the school's leader gets into the Mardi Gras spirit.
"I am very excited. My hat, this has been the traditional hat that we have worn. I've worn it for the past five years and the principal before me wore it, so it's kind of the traditional Mardi Gras hat," said Pat Carlton, principal at Fairhope K-1 Center.
With that, let good times roll.
