Fergie gets flirty with Nelson Mandela

JOHANNESBURG (AP) - Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas discovered she has a not-so-secret admirer in South Africa: Nelson Mandela.

The band met with the legendary civil rights leader while visiting the country to perform at the World Cup kickoff concert, and Fergie says Mandela flirted with her.

The 35-year-old singer said "it was one of the best moments of my life." She also acknowledged flirting back with the 91-year-old former president.

Fergie and her band mates said they were moved to see so many nations coming together to celebrate the soccer tournament.

Apartheid was not all that distant, she said, noting that "20 years ago this would not have been possible in South Africa."

The World Cup begins Friday.
